McCain Education and Community Center in Tempe, a project that will honor the life and work of one of Arizona's most influential senators.

The John S. McCain Education and Community Center will be a new multi-purpose facility that will provide education, work, and health monitoring programs for underserved communities in Arizona. It will also house the Arizona home for the Washington, DC-based McCain Institute, a nonpartisan organization that promotes character-driven leadership and global engagement.

The center will also feature a McCain Library and Archives, which will showcase the senator's remarkable career and achievements in public service. Visitors will be able to learn about McCain's bold defense of Americans' rights both at home and abroad, his bipartisan efforts to solve complex problems, and his unwavering commitment to the values of freedom and democracy.

Governor Hobbs spoke at the announcement event on September 29, 2023, along with members of the McCain family, including Ambassador Cindy McCain, the senator's widow and chair of the McCain Institute's Board of Trustees. Governor Hobbs praised the senator's legacy and expressed her pride in making this investment in Arizona's future.

"With today’s announcement of the McCain Library, the stories of Senator McCain’s bold defense of Americans’ rights both at home and abroad will become much more than just stories," said Governor Hobbs. "Everything ranging from advancing human rights, to developing capable leaders, to safeguarding democracy, will run through this center, just as it has run through Arizona. I am proud to make this investment in our state and our community, and I am so looking forward to what we will accomplish together."

The State of Arizona was instrumental in securing funding for the center, leading the application through the federal government’s Capital Projects Fund. The center will be located within Arizona State University's Tempe campus, where McCain graduated from in 1958. The construction is expected to begin in early 2024 and be completed by late 2025.

The John S. McCain Education and Community Center will be a testament to the senator's enduring impact on Arizona and the world. It will also be a place where future generations can learn from his example and be inspired to follow his footsteps.

Governor Hobbs has shown her dedication to honoring McCain's legacy and continuing his work for the benefit of all Arizonans. She has also demonstrated her vision and leadership in addressing the challenges and opportunities facing her state in the 21st century.
